NewStart provides support to individuals and families in 23 units of temporary accommodation within the Lichfield District.

Aims To provide a support service to short-term hostel tenants and five additional families in the Lichfield district to:

-Deal with their housing problems
-Improve their tenancy management skills
-Prevent future homelessness

Objectives Our goals are to:

-Identify the individual needs of each tenant, and deliver client-led support to those who are struggling to cope with issues associated with homelessness and vulnerability. This may involve networking with other agencies to provide a package of specialised support.

-To provide financial advice and assistance with housing benefit claims and rent arrears payment plans for the duration of the tenant's stay in the Hostels and other accommodation. This will assist tenants to avoid incurring rent arrears, meet the terms of the benefits system and improve current eviction levels.

-To support tenants to manage their tenancy in a responsible manner, and maintain the accommodation according to Homezone's requirements.

NewStart works in partnership with Lichfield District Council and Home Zone.
